So, after a slightly interesting journey home with the van, I figure now would be a good time to just run through the machine a little, and what kind of plans I have for it.
THE VAN:
# 1998 VW T4 Transporter 2.4D
# The AAB engine that is in it now is not the original engine. However, this one has 3bhp more, giving it a quite incredibly low 78bhp in total. However, it isn't about speed, it's about getting there.
# The van has seats in the rear, lights in the rear, a sunroof in the rear, and even the two side windows already fitted, which will save me about £300.
# Black 18" Audi alloy wheels. Still not entirely sure whether I want these to be plain silver or not yet.
THE PLAN:
# Strip out the rear ply wood and old fibreglass insulation
# Sound deaden the panels and re-insulate
# Carpet the ply panels and any bare metalwork
# Rip out the original flooring and put down slightly thinner ply, then carpet
# Fix the smoke/fuel leak/5th gear problems
